The Power of Words: Did you heal or did you hurt?

What's up folks,

I hope you all are having a great day, I surely am. Today, I just want to get straight into the point, I want to talk about the power of words. You know, when people ask "what are you most afraid of?", some would say lions, tigers, bears, heights, dogs, etc...(I am afraid of all the above lol) , but you know what I am most afraid of sometimes? People! Yep...you read it right, people. The reason being, is because, humans possess an instrument so powerful, that if abused, they can instantly KILL someone...emotionally. (And let me tell you my friend, being emotionally dead, is far worse, than being physically dead.) Or if used in the right way, it can transform the world by healing and uplifting others one word at a time. Every word spoken has an influence that is so powerful, whether it is words of good or words of evil. The gift and talent of voice was entrusted to us by God, it is a privilege that we are able to speak, we should learn to train and guard our words, for they have the power to cause sunshine or shadow on anyone who we come in contact with. Instead of going on and on, (because I can lol), I will simply list the two influences of words with a little detail of each.

Tomorrow is back-to-school day for me!! YAY! I missed school (weird but true lol) and all that comes along with it, minus the all nighters. I am excited to begin a new semester! However, sometimes I get so caught up in my academic life, that I sometimes neglect other areas in my life, such as my social life, my spiritual life etc. For example, with my spiritual life, I don't give as much time as I used to give to God when my life gets so busy. So...a few months ago, my sister came up with an idea to make some daily reminders and post them up places I go often (such as my school binder, my laptop homepage, my working area at home, this blog *wink*,  etc). (Both my sister and I do this, and we came up with these together.)

Far Above Rubies: A Woman's Worth

Anyway....today I want to share my point of view on a woman's worth. Many of you might share the same view as me, and many of you might not. How am I suppose to know what you think if you don't comment?! Stop playing and start commenting lol. :P Ok, now let me get serious..*clears throat*...

You know.... it's heartbreaking to know that a lot of women and men don't realize what precious gift a woman's worth is! But you know what's even more heartbreaking? A woman that's incapable of seeing her worth and thus allows others to destroy her; or a woman that doesn't realize that no money in the world could ever be enough to buy her, yet she allows herself to be robbed. "A woman who knows her value knows that she has something incredibly valuable to give and something important to protect" -Nancy Houston

A Strong Woman

What's up folks....

A few months back, I was granted the privilege of returning to my old high school to speak on Becoming a strong woman: Winning with confidence and character.  I thought it would be interesting and informative, if I shared a few points on what I spoke about on here.We have society, media and modern feminism (most types) to greatly thank for the misconception of what it truly means to be a "strong woman". *insert sarcastic smile here* One of the obvious yet unspoken consequences of  these false conceptions are the negative notions that have been attached to the meaning of a "strong woman". Sadly, a lot of women do believe and follow this negative notion and that is why we see a lot of these women living by the attached stereotypes of a strong woman; these include single and lonely, tough, masculine, emotionless, icy and conniving. 

Watering my own grass: Choosing to be Content

What's up folks....

I want to share something with you that God has been teaching me lately; that is: Choosing to be content. Let me just say, when this was first revealed to me, my initial reaction was to rebuttal , I was in total denial. I couldn't see this defect in my own character. I was so blind and quick to spot how others were discontent, that I was too busy to realize how I didn't appreciate what I had too!! Have you ever heard the quote "If you think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, try watering your own grass"?....Well, I was that one sitting on the fence wishing I had my neighbour's grass! Sad, but TRUE! I was there, watching everyone else carry on with their lives and wishing I was on the other side of the fence with them, not realizing that if I had watered my grass, it would look the same (if not better). 

Sometimes, when we wish our lives were similar to someone else's, that can be so dangerous, because in reality, we don't know what the person did or had to go through to get to where they are! And if we were to find out what they had to go through, can we honestly say that we would be willing to take the same steps they did? Would we be able and willing to endure the same pain, losses and sufferings? 

Vegetarian Patties

Happy Labour Day..I hope you guys are enjoying the holiday. In the spirit of the holiday, I figured I'd come on here and share a really quick, easy and tasty recipe. I don't know the name of it (I got it from my older brother), but for now, I'll call it Vegetarian patties. While making this, I forgot to record the accurate measuring, so if you ever try this, just go with your instincts like I did. I promise to record the measurements next time!!! *eek* lol.

Choosing A Life Partner

What's up folks...

Today, I want to talk about one of the most critical decisions we will ever make in our lives.  That is: CHOOSING  A LIFE PARTNER! *wipes sweat off forehead* *Disclaimer: I am NOT, by any means, an expert on this topic, neither am I experienced, but from the knowledge I have gathered from the experts and experienced spiritual leaders, I will be sharing with you. Choosing a life partner is a life or death situation, it's a decision between eternal life or eternal death. "Why? How come?" ...you may ask. That is because, the person you choose to spend the rest of your life with, has the ability to influence you to the point where you turn completely to Satan, or completely to Christ. In our society today, we see marriages falling apart, lasting only a few days *sigh*. I think we all can agree here if I say many people don't know or fully understand the sacredness of marriage, so due to that, marriage has lost it's true meaning and value. But...not all hope is lost, because as children of God, we are here to restore the sacredness of marriage!! We are here to serve Christ and our fellow brethren through marriage by showing how Christ's love reigns in our lives.

Nhappy and Proud: Natural Hair Care!

What's up folks...

Today, I will be sharing my natural hair progress with you ladies (and gents if you're interested). I have been natural for 2 years, but I had to chop my hair off last summer (1 year ago) because I got heat damage!! Go figure!! *insert sarcastic smile here* Anywho....I will post some pictures of my hair, hopefully I can inspire at least one person to go natural or encourage someone to continue their natural hair journey. My hair type is a mixture between 4A and 4B. With the help of my sweet friend Grace (what's up girly?!) and lots of experimenting, I got a regimen that works for my hair...and through that, I understood my hair more. I will post my regimen up in a different post in the near future. Key to beautifully textured and natural hair is MOISTURE, PROTECTIVE STYLING, ACCEPTANCE AND KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR HAIR, DON'T MISHANDLE or OVER MANIPULATE HAIR and MAINTENANCE!

The Blessing of Being Single

What's up folks...

I know the title of this post sounds crazy and so opposite of what our "society" thinks, but trust me, being single has been such a blessing to me. If you want to know why, then keep reading :P

In my time of singleness, I learnt God has taught me SO much!Instead of being pessimistic about being single, or filling up my head with thoughts of loneliness, I have seen the bright side of the situation and decided to  take full advantage of my singleness. But hey, don't get me wrong, I do want to get married some day and have a family of my own (and there's totally nothing wrong with that). My point here is, in my current life of singleness, I have learned so much about being content to the point where if Christ was to call me to the life of singleness for the rest of my life, I would be okay with that.

With that being said, here's some points about the advantages of being single:
